After a celebrated run at Hot Docs, the documentay St-Henri, the 26 of August opens in theatres in Montreal (Cinéma Parallèle – with English subtitles) and Quebec City (Cinéma Le Clap) May 20.

The film, directed by Shannon Walsh and 16 fellow documentary filmmakers, chronicles life in a former working-class Montreal neighbourhood (St-Henri) over a 24-hour period. The music for the film was also sourced locally. As Walsh explained in an interview (in French) with my colleague Catherine Perreault, Montreal musician Patrick Watson enthusiastically participated in the process and supported it from start to finish. To accompany the film, he wrote an original soundtrack that perfectly suits this cinéma vérité-inspired film.

To our great delight, Watson has also agreed to offer us 3 exclusive soundtrack excerpts. Here they are, just for you:

  • Patrick Watson - St-Henri Theme
  • Patrick Watson - Amin Test
  • Patrick Watson - Boxing Theme
