Black Cinema at the NFB: Before and After 1983 | Curator’s Perspective
This instalment of Curator’s Perspective offers a brief look at the history of Black cinema at the National Film Board.
Camilo Martín-Flórez has devoted his entire career to studying and promoting the “other cinemas” of the Americas (Indigenous, Afro-Descendant, Asian-American, etc.), as well as Latin American and Caribbean cinema. He holds a Ph.D. in Film Studies from the University of Bologna (Italy). As the National Film Board of Canada’s English Collection Curator, he is responsible for film programming on nfb.ca and for writing about films, filmmakers and the history of the NFB.
