Exploring the CODE
The NFB is one of the partners of Canada CODE, this grassroots digital collection of thoughts and photographs by Canadians about their daily lives and experiences. Since I work for the NFB, I thought I should check it out.
The site was conceived for the 2010 Olympics and is intended to present a portrait of Canada for the entire world to see. And really, where else can you find images of a December sunrise in the Yukon right alongside an off-the-cuff remark about Quebec’s distinct society status?
Then I stumbled upon a quick post about slumber parties that appealed to the mother in me, only to discover that it was written by one of our own Executive Producers. Turns out, Canada CODE isn’t just a way to learn more about this country, it’s also a great way to learn about the people you deal with every day.
So check it out, and create your own CODE.
