Hothouse 10: Alex Boya’s Acute Focus

This post is written by Hothouse 10 filmmaker Alex Boya. It’s part of the “I can see the finish line” posts by this year’s Hothouse gang.

For Focus, animating was acute and impulsive in the same time, like mapping clouds. After countless trials, it was paramount to get back to the drawing board to make the film in one sequence.

Ingredients? Office paper on which to draw and draw until I lose it. In the realm of this story, there’s some kind of mythology of characters that reveal themselves behind the retina. Connecting with those moments was, I think, what we strived to create with amazing resources and unique talent on all steps of development.
