Paris 1919 heads to Hot Docs

Paris 1919, Paul Cowan’s film about the Paris Peace Conference at the end of World War I, will screen at the 2009 Hot Docs documentary film festival in Toronto. The film is featured as part of the World Showcase program and will be presented along with 7 other NFB titles.

I interviewed Paul Cowan recently and we talked about the film’s journey from concept to screen, the challenge of adapting Margaret MacMillan’s book and the film’s relevance in today’s world. As Cowan said, “If ever there is an example of the dictum that ‘making war is easy, making peace is hard,’ it is the six months in Paris in 1919. ”
