7 NFB films at the Festival du nouveau cinema in Montreal, October 7-18

A lot has been said about Claude Chamberlan and his festival, but one thing is for sure – every year, the FNC attracts hot, hip new films from around the world.

This year, 7 of our films are included in the lineup, including the world premiere of Visionnaires planétaires, a new feature-length documentary about young environmentalist Mikaël Rioux and his passionate concern for the world his son will inherit.

Also screening are:

Chris Landreth’s The Spine:

Guy Maddin’s Night Mayor:

Cordell Barker’s Runaway:

Michèle Cournoyer’s Robes of War:

Jean-François Lévesque’s The Necktie:

Izabela Bzymek’s Oma’s Quilt:

Also, festival-goers are invited to the launch of the 2009 edition of the Wapikoni Mobile‘s best short films selection. The event takes place on Tuesday, October 13 at the UQAM Coeur des sciences Building (175 President Kennedy Ave.). Festivities start at 5:30 pm, followed by the screenings at 7:00.

The Wapikoni Mobile is comprised of 2 traveling film studios that visit Aboriginal communities in Quebec with the aim of breaking down prejudice, encouraging new talent and fostering contact between young people and the world around them.
