Just so you know we’ve been paying attention, we’ve compiled a list of the top five titles searched for during the month of December. Drum roll, please…

The Kid Who Couldn’t Miss is a docu-drama directed by Paul Cowan about William Avery (Billy) Bishop. This is the story of how one outspoken young kid from Owen Sound, Ontario grew up to be the most decorated Canadian fighter pilot in World War I.

How to Build an Igloo has been getting tons of traffic these days. Mentioned on kottke.org a few weeks ago, it was immediately picked up by a bunch of other bloggers. This short film from 1949 shows how to build an igloo using snow, a snow knife and little bit of skill.

The Big Snit is an Oscar®-nominated animated short that portrays a typical domestic squabble against the backdrop of a nuclear war. The film is a gem and sure to make you smile.

Tracey Deer’s documentary Club Native centres on her Native reserve of Kahnawake, Quebec. By calling into question one of the clauses of the Indian Act, she addresses the issues of bloodline and culture when it comes to determining identity. Watch a clip from Club Native.

And finally, the perennial favourite, The Cat Came Back. Another Oscar® nominee, Cordell Barker’s story about a pesky cat who can’t take a hint won the 1989 Genie Award for best animated short film.
