Education for Reconciliation: Join the National Community of Practice Exploring Indigenous Voices

Reconciliation education is relational work. It happens through open discussions, reflection, and shared learning over time. Indigenous Voices is a rich educational resource, and as we have begun offering professional learning around it, we’ve seen that engaging deeply with these stories and perspectives can be as transformative for students as it is for educators.

This school year, NFB Education is therefore inviting educators into a national community of practice: a series of monthly online gatherings, held in both English and French, that will bring together educators from different provinces and territories across the land we now call Canada.

It’s a privilege to facilitate this national conversation and to hold space for educators to reflect, learn from one another’s experiences, ask questions, and find support in the important ongoing work of reconciliation education. It’s work we are all invited to do, and none of us needs to do it alone.

What to Expect at Each Session

Every gathering is facilitated by Indigenous educators who were instrumental in the creation of Indigenous Voices and know the resource well.

Each session includes:

• A guided exploration of selected pathways within the resource;
• Hands-on time with the accompanying student workbook;
• Space to reflect and plan together how to bring this learning into your own classroom.

Drop in for one gathering or return throughout the year. However you choose to participate, you’ll be part of a growing community of educators learning alongside one another.

All sessions will be held from 7:30–9:00 p.m. EST. The registration links below will show times in your own time zone. New dates will be added throughout the school year. We look forward to being together online!
