The NFB is currently offering financing to producers of new media projects under two banners: the NFB New Media Pitch and the NFB-TVO Calling Card Program.
The NFB New Media Pitch is looking for interactive documentaries that “harness the power of story, capitalize on multiple platforms and demonstrate the creative and democratic nature of digital media.” The winning proposal will receive a co-production development deal from the NFB that includes up to $7,500 in funding and a full scholarship to attend the Interactive Screen Program at the Banff Centre’s New Media Institute.
To be eligible, the projects must make use of a new media platform and be proposed by independent Canadian digital or television producers. Those who make the finals must pitch their projects, in person, at the Banff 2009 Pitch Session.

The NFB-TVO Calling Card Program is open to emerging filmmakers and new media teams from Ontario. In addition to documentaries for new media platforms, they are also seeking documentary proposals for traditional television.
The program is being launched this week at Hot Docs in Toronto. To be eligible, the proposals must be “original, character-driven narratives with a focus on social, political and cultural issues.” The winning team in each category will receive $45,000 and a mentorship from members of the film and new media community.
