A rich history

In honour of our 70th anniversary this year, we’ve put up a new Web site that celebrates and highlights the NFB and its work over the past seven decades.

The site,, is well worth checking out. There’s tons of interesting information, some fantastic images and a great overview of our activities and mandates over the years.

For example, did you know that the NFB’s original mandate was to support the war effort? As a result, Churchill’s Island was produced, which went on to become the first Canadian film to win an Oscar®.

Check it out.
