A rich history

In honour of our 70th anniversary this year, we’ve put up a new Web site that celebrates and highlights the NFB and its work over the past seven decades.

The site, nfb.ca/history, is well worth checking out. There’s tons of interesting information, some fantastic images and a great overview of our activities and mandates over the years.

For example, did you know that the NFB’s original mandate was to support the war effort? As a result, Churchill’s Island was produced, which went on to become the first Canadian film to win an Oscar®.

Check it out.
